The airport is located close to the city center, only about 2.5 km away from the Congress Palace. Therefore, the city center, the hotels or the Congress Palace are quite simple to reach either by city- buses or by taxi (see Urban Mobility directions below), or even by train, since the airport also features a railway terminal with direct connection to the Pisa central railway station. Anyway, people choosing to stay at hotels in the nearby of the central railway station and willing to walk a bit after or before their flight may easily and safely move between the airport and their accommodations even by foot, in about 20 minutes.

Railway connections

Pisa also hosts an important railway station along the Tirrenian main line connecting Naples to Rome, Genoa and Turin. Moreover, Pisa is directly and effectively connected to Florence (1 hour) which is a major railway node along the primary high-speed line Rome-Florence-Bologna-Milan. Moreover, Pisa is directly connected to Lucca: therefore, all of the main historical artistic towns in Tuscany (Florence, Siena, Lucca, Arezzo) may be comfortably reached by train. The central station is located close to the city center, only about 1.5 km away from the Congress Palace.

Coach connections

Pisa is directly connected to several town both in Tuscany and outside Tuscany via road by means of regular coach services. In particular, it is connected to the renowned tourist beach villages of Tirrenia (CPT company: http://www.cpt.pisa.it) and Viareggio (Lazzi company:http://www.lazzi.it/ ) which can be then comfortably reached in 30-40 min.

Road connections

Pisa is also rather well connected to the toll-pay highway system, whose terminals for the routes A12 (E80 Genoa-Livorno) and A11 (E76 Florence-coast) are in the nearby of the city. The Florence-Pisa-Livorno toll-free fastway also represents a convenient alternative directly leading to Pisa airport.

Sea connections

Aiga Symbol Signs ClipartPisa is located about 25 km north from the main harbor of Livorno, which may be easily reached by train or coach and urban bus. Different sailing companies offer regular ferry connections to Sardinia (Olbia, Golfo Aranci), Corsica (Bastia, Portovecchio), Tunisia (Tunisi), Spain (Barcelona).

Urban mobility

Pisa is a relatively small town whose centre, featuring rather narrow roads with severe traffic limits, may be comfortably and safely traveled and visited even by foot or by bicycle.Anyway, an effective city bus service (managed by CTP company - http://www.cpt.pisa.it ) is available, connecting the most important locations inside the city including the Congress Palace, the airport and the central railway station, whose front square is actually used as main interchange point for urban buses.A taxi service (managed by CoTaPi company - http://www.cotapi.it) is also available with fixed pick-up points at both the airport and the central railway station.Furthermore, a double-deck tourist bus with open top is also available along a predefined path visiting the typical sight-seen attractions: Leaning Tower, Piazza dei Miracoli, Lungarni etc.
