Duty and Goal by IFToMM Constitution and by Laws (2007)
- to promote the republishing of classical works of reference;
- to promote the collection and circulation of material and information in the field of Mechanism and Machine Science;
- to maintain the Archive of the Federation;
- to promote activities and works in the field of the history of Mechanism and Machine Science.
Main Activities
Main activity for near future can be programmed in the following actions:
- - to establish a Commission with several members
- - to solicit papers on History of MMS for Conferences and Journals
- - to circulate information on the Commission;
- - to exchange opinions among the members of the Commission, mainly by e-mail;
- - to organize lectures and/or Workshop on History of MMS;
- - to establish collaboration for historical investigations
- - to maintain the IFToMM Archive
It is worth to remind that a particular interest will be addressed by the PC to the republishing of old works, but the practical activity can be carried out on the basis of specific personal interest of anyone with the available help of members of the PC.
PC Conference Events
- HMM International Symposium on History of Machines and Mechanisms
The HMM Symposium on History of Machines and Mechanism is the conference event of the PC as a forum for international participation with publication of Proceedings. Thus, participation is invited with submission of conference papers that will have historical content but from technical viewpoints. Papers will be revised and after acceptance will be published in a printed volume that will be available for international circulation also after the Symposium.
HMM2000 at Cassino University (Italy) in May 2000 (http://webuser.unicas.it/weblarm/hmm00/index.htm)
HMM2004 at Cassino University (Italy) in May 2004 (http://webuser.unicas.it/weblarm/hmm04/index.htm)
HMM2008 at in Tainan (China-Taipei) in November 2008 (http://www.acmcf.org.tw/hmm2008/index.htm)
- Workshop on History of MMS
Workshops on History of MMS will be organized as meeting events for facilitating presentation of unpublished material, discussion and promotion of interest on historical subjects. Thus, participation will be highly appreciated only with an oral presentation of historical material with technical content of a duration of about 30 minutes or more. Therefore a Workshop can be organized with more informal program and we shall collect material, like presentations, copies of papers and photos, in a CD for the participants. The CD will be given after a Workshop, like we did at Dresden Workshop and previous ones .
