Fundamentals of Mechanics of Robotic Manipulation,  by Marco Ceccarelli, Kluwer 2004.

The book treats analysis and design of manipulations, manipulators and grippers by discussing basic concepts and fundamental formulation. The purpose of the book consists of presenting robots and robotized systems in such a way that they can be used and designed for industrial and innovative non-industrial applications with no great efforts. The content of the book has been kept at a fairly practical level with the aim to teach how to model, simulate, and operate robotic mechanical systems. The chapters have been written and organized in a way that they can be red even separately, so that they can be used separately for different courses and readers.  An introductory Chapter 1 illustrates motivation and historical developments of robotic mechanical systems. Chapter 2 describes the analysis and synthesis of manipulations by automatic machinery and robots. Chapter 3 deals with the Mechanics of Manipulators with the aim to propose algorithms for analysis, simulation and design purposes. Chapter 4 addresses the attention to mechanical two-finger grippers and related Mechanics of Grasping.

Proceedings of EUCOMES 08,  by Marco Ceccarelli,  2008.

The Second European Conference on Mechanism Science This volume contains most of the papers presented at EUCOMES 2008, the Second European Conference on Mechanism Science. The contributions have been grouped in sessions on Theoretical and Computational Kinematics, History of Mechanism Science, Design Algorithms, Mechanism Designs, Mechanical Transmissions, Gearing Systems, Manipulators, Linkages, Mechanics of Robots, Experimental Mechanics, Dynamics of Multibody Systems, Industrial Applications, and Non Industrial Applications. However, the topics are not limited to these subsections only but reflect the wide range of Mechanism Science. It is hoped that this collection of papers will continue to stimulate research and consolidate the opportunities the conference created to share experiences and discuss scientific achievements and current trends in Mechanism Science (especially) in Europe.

Proceedings of HMM 2008  International Symposium on History of Machines and Mechanisms, by  H.-S. Yan, National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan; M. Ceccarelli, DiMSAT, University of Cassino, Italy (Eds.)

The HMMM2008 International Symposium on History of Machines and Mechanisms is the third event of a series started in 2000 as the main activity of the IFToMM Permanent commission for History of MMS; Mechanism and Machine Science. The aim of History

of Machines and Mechanisms conferences is to establish an international forum for presenting and discussing historical developments in the field of Mechanism and Machine Science (MMS). The subject area covers all aspects of the development of HMM, such as machines, mechanisms, kinematics, design methods, etc., that are related to people, events, objects, indeed, anything that assisted in the development of the HMM, andis presented in the form of reasoning and arguments, demonstration and identification, and description and evaluation. The HMM2008 Proceedings contain 26 papers by authors from all over the world. The topics include historical development on mechanism and machine theory, historical figures and their works, history of mechanical engineering, ancient machines and mechanisms, reconstruction design of ancient devices, mechanism and machine design, and engineering education. This book is of interest to researchers, graduate students and engineers specializing or promoting the history...
